Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging

A non-invasive investigative technique allowing us to visualise changes in body temperature

What is Infrared Imaging?

Digital Thermography is a non-invasive scan which uses “Regulation Thermometry”.

This technology is based on the analysis of changing skin temperatures evaluated before and after a stress-stimulus of cool air is applied.

Thermal imaging may detect indications of potential diseases, inflammation, arthritis, poor circulation, and has also proven invaluable in breast imaging for the early detection of breast abnormality.

What can you expect in an appointment?

The test takes 40 minutes and the patient must strip to his/her underwear in order to measure the skin’s response to the room-temperature air. Results are immediate and require a follow up consultation to interpret the results.

Infrared Imaging can help detect indications of the presence of:

  • Undetected inflammatory conditions
  • Inflammation
  • Arthritis
  • Poor circulation
  • Additionally, thermal imaging has been used for breast imaging to aid in the detection of breast abnormality.

Please note, this is not a diagnostic tool. Instead, we look at how thermal patterns overlying specific body regions may relate to underlying dysfunction.
